Case Study: Project Development

“We engaged add specialists to develop an innovative project. They conducted detailed market research; identified suppliers; undertook rigorous financial and output planning; and, completed robust economic impact analysis. The application Chris wrote secured over £750,000 for the project which is now being delivered.”

CO2Sense is a not-for-profit company based in Leeds that seeks to support businesses to secure opportunities in the low carbon economy. In 2011 they commissioned add specialists to develop a project to provide a range of electric vehicles to small businesses in Yorkshire.

add specialists developed the project from initial idea to a funded project that is now operational. This is a unique project – there are no other schemes operating in the United Kingdom (UK) that enable businesses to trial electric vehicles on a discounted basis, and then support them to purchase or hire them on a commercial basis.

The unique nature of the project presented complex project development challenges as there was no historical data to base assumptions on. These challenges were mitigated by conducting detailed primary research on issues including the barriers to electric vehicle adoption and the level of discount needed to encourage businesses to trial the vehicles.

We developed all aspects of the project including a detailed customer journey. We completed complex applications to the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Local Sustainable Transport Fund (LSTF) and were successful in securing over £750,000 in grant funding for the project, which is now being delivered by South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive.
